Russia opens its door to Amway
Russian market becomes the latest frontier for the global direct selling giant
The Alticor family of companies enters its 57th market today with the opening of Amway Russia.
"This is an exciting day for our company," said Steve Van Andel, chairman of Alticor. "Introduction of the Amway business opportunity in Russia marks another significant step as we continue to promote individual opportunity and the market economy around the globe. "
"People around the world are empowered by Amway," said Doug DeVos, president of Alticor. "In Russia, Amway will help thousands of Russian citizens build their own businesses, and enjoy a better financial future. With its sprit of entrepreneurship and its sophisticated and value-minded consumers, Russia offers a great potential for the Amway business."
Amway enters the Russian market with high-quality, everyday-use products ranging from the prestigious ARTISTRY™ cosmetics to multi-purpose home care products. The company plans to gradually introduce additional products so that, in time, Russian consumers can experience the entire range of products the company offers.
Claus Joensson, Amway Russia Country Manager, said: "We are excited to share with the Russian people the powerful opportunity to own and operate their own businesses at a low start-up cost, and with minimal risk. We will help Russians develop product knowledge, and business management skills through Amway's proven sales and marketing plan."
Amway Russia's main offices are located in Moscow. The Amway sales force in Russia will be serviced by three product selection centers in Moscow and one in Nizhni Novgorod. The company plans to expand to other cities and regions of the Russian Federation in the near future.
"The Russian people have embraced free enterprise and direct selling with great enthusiasm," said Joensson. "We are honored to be able to bring our brand to this dynamic and exciting new market. Russians realize that by joining Amway, they will be rewarded with a business of their own, built on their own, independent terms."
