The Amway Coaches Poll is a season-long poll that establishes the weekly Top 25 football teams, as voted on by 64 Division 1 football coaches. It will be one of the tools that help determine who will play in the new College Football Playoff system in 2014. The Preseason Poll is released in early August and the poll will be updated weekly during the season for 17 weeks. It will be distributed across USA TODAY and its digital sports properties, including a weekly video release.
The Amway Fan Poll will offer a side-by-side analysis for fans to rank their top teams against the coach’s top teams. The Amway Fan Poll will be promoted on the USATODAY.com website, article page links about the Amway Coaches Poll, and social channels to drive consumers to vote for their perfect Top 25!
Starting with the 2014 season, the Coaches’ Trophy Presented by Amway will be awarded to the No. 1 team in the Amway Coaches’ Top 25 Poll on that team’s home campus within 10 days of the national championship game.
Since 1986, the winner of the USA Today Coaches Poll has received the Coaches’ Trophy. The trophy features a Waterford® Crystal football atop an ebony base. It’s widely recognized as “The Symbol of Supremacy in College Football.”
The Coaches’ Trophy Presented by Amway will also be featured on the USA TODAY.com website on a weekly basis when the new poll is announced during the season. The trophy will tour the country during the season, stopping at 10 major college games with the potential of national and regional television coverage.
