Amway partnered with
Un Kilo de Ayuda and the
Instituto Nacional de Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Nutrition in Mexico) to test the efficacy of the
Nutrilite® Little Bits program in a pilot study in Mexico involving approximately 125 children ages 1 to 5 years old. The results from this clinical study exceeded our expectations. Prevalence of iron deficiency anemia was reduced by nearly 90% after 6 months of intervention. Prevalence of stunting was reduced by 18%. Prevalence of low body weight was reduced by more than 6%. And children showed to be more active, talkative, and playful in just 6 months. This clinical study is currently going through the stages of publication. The abstract* was presented at the Second World Congress of Public Health Nutrition and the First Latin American Congress of Community Nutrition in September 2010 in Porto, Portugal.
